What do you think of Laufey?

On New Year’s Eve, I had on some music-based TV countdown show serving mostly as background noise while waiting for midnight. After an hour or more of the sort of bland pop/rock/rap stuff, an artist came on that caught my attention—Laufey. Since I was unfamiliar with her work I did some digging and found this interesting assessment by Adam Neely. I thought you might find it interesting. Enjoy! :musical_keyboard:

I saw her live movie because the preview intrigued me . She’s a Ticktok star, pure and simple. She sings a very limited amount of Great American Songbook pieces. It’s not jazz. It is Disney Movie music, and “love lost” music which tugs and appeals to 12 & 13 year old sensibilities.
