Lovely
Thank you Pierre and everyone for your kind words. My hope is that we will all take this time to do what we love with the people we love, and of course make more music.
Cheers
We are so lucky to have this music medicine during this time.
Jaco Pastorius - Three Views of a Secret
Iāve always been a Jaco fan and this tune of his in particular. I had this great idea that it would make a good solo piano tune so I found a lead sheet online and started building my structure from it. Then I came across this guy killin it on youtube and realized Iād better not quit my day jobā¦
Anyway hereās my work in progress. No solos - not sure how to approach that yet and yes, I left out the āBā section - same reason.
Nice tune, John. Iāll have to give another listen to Pastorius. Iām really only familiar with some of his work with Weather Report.
The WR track is probably the best take for my ear. I like Zawinulās moody murkiness and Shorterās soloing is just perfect. JP did another with his big band on Liberty City.
And then thereās this one with Toots T. - Jaco appears to be having a good time on the piano - who knew???
Cheers,
So nice Adam. You have a lovely touch on the keys. I tend to hit my acoustic keys too hard and am really trying to work on a softer touch, so it was really great to hear you! I just started learning Body and Soulā¦so this was a double treat for me!
Thanks Celia. I struggle with the same thing. Because I play a keyboard I have some control over the velocity. You will definitely enjoy this tune. Have fun!!!
Hi Adam - great job and ditto Celiaās comments on your technique and feel. What sort of keyboard and amp are you using?
Likewise, as Celia mentionedā¦ one of the areas that Iām also trying to address is technique and playing tot hard. I find when I listen to myself from recording, Iām the biggest critique. Maybe due to just learning songs and trying to get them right, not sure.
Cheers

The keyboard is a Fantom X8. I am not using an amp but Logic X program. I do use studio monitors to practice but I usually use the program when I record.
I have a piano in storage and canāt wait to have room to set it up so I can better understand the dynamics of a real piano better.
But you are correct. We are always our hardest critic. Thatās because we know the sound we are trying to achieve. Thanks for your kind words.
Cheers.
Sweet, Adam. Thanks for sharing.
John,
Listening to Thielemans here made me remember another very fine harmonica player, Hendrik Meurkens. His latest is Cobbās Pocket (In And Out Records 2019), a quartet with Peter Bernstein (g), Mike LeDonne (B-3), and Jimmy Cobb (d). Couldnāt find any full tunes on YouTube, so here is a version of āMy Foolish Heart.ā Hope you enjoy. But check out the album mentioned. Itās quite good.

Nice ! another great recommendation. Iāve heard Meurkens in the past but will add this to Google Play and have a listen. (And M. LeDonne!!)
This harmonica conversation reminds me of the Accordina as I tried to find one but they are amazingly hard to track down. I love the tone though learning the system would be an uphill climb for me. I bought a used accordion instead, as I sometimes do rock/folk - type gigs and itās like trying to get a '68 Buick to make sweet amore to a typewriter.
Cheers,
Wow Mr. Powell.!
Thats really very nice - your arrangement?
Agree with others, beautiful touch. Something Iām always struggling with, particularly with digital keys or software libraries and controllers.

Thanks John. Thatās the version I learned from Pianogroove. I just make small adjustments here and there based on how it sounds and feels. There is a lot of content for this song. Like 3 versions of it and cameos in various other tutorials. Just type in body in the search window.
Cheers
Adam
Ahh thanks for that. Didnāt realize it was here.
Best,
John
Okay, this is my first ever recording The quality is a bit muffled (using the recording feature on my Yamaha), and there are some mistakes here and there, but any feedback is welcome. With this tune Iām mostly concerned about tone/phrasing/tempo. It feels quite slow, and I worry that that almost makes it sound a little too grim, but I also hope the ebb and flow of tempo/dynamics makes it sound musicalā¦ Thatās my intent at least Anyway, since this is my first time soliciting feedback, feel free to comment on any aspect, especially if there are obvious/glaring issues. Thanks
TactfulCactus,
I liked it a lot and did not think it was too slow. I tend to play too fast and have to remind myself to slow down and feel the music! Good job!
Hi,
Enjoyed your playing on this tune as not easy. I agree with Celia as well as I also tend to play too fast at time.
Its important that you play as you feelā¦fast or slow, its how you perceive the song and how you express your feelings through playing.
Well done!
