John Taylor's "Whirlpool"

Thanks to @john for mentioning John Taylor and his album, Whirlpool, released 2007. I gave it a listen this morning; great stuff.

I very much like the sound of the piano on Whirlpool. How would you describe that sound? (See “Understanding Piano Tone” on the Merriam Music site.) It sounds like a Steinway Model B or a Grotrian. Very nice.

Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed it! His other albums are great too as is his work with Kenny Wheeler. Wish I’d managed to see him.

I’m now listening to Joy Ellis, Peaceful Place which to my ear at least has a very similar quality and I’m thoroughly enjoyable. And I’ve managed to get tickets to see her!
