Hello everybody,

I hope you are all well.

Since Tuomo already did a beautiful arrangement of Naima, I vote for a version now of “Lonnie´s Lament”.

Apart from the original version
and the McCoy Tyner solo version
I also like very much this version by french pianist Jean-René Mourot:

Welcome to the community Bern and thanks for these suggestions.

We can certainly cover these tunes. The Evans/Getz version of “The Peacocks” you posted is also a favourite of mine… a beautiful recording :star_struck:

I’ve just published the “Pure Imagination” tutorial - it was fun arranging this tune.

The melody reminds me of my childhood watching Willy Wonka. It’s quite heavily reharmonised in places but still sounds great to my ears

@scott1, @celia and @Kristeta - you can find the tutorial in our “Arranging For Solo Piano” course and the direct link to the tutorial is here:

I still need to transcribe the arrangement which I will do asap.

We apply lots of interesting theory in this arrangement, here’s a list of the relevant theory areas we cover:

I also need to make the beginner arrangement of the tune. I find it easier to first do the advanced one first, and then strip it down to simpler voicings and progressions.

Hope you all like the lesson :sunglasses:

Cheers!
Hayden

Hello all,

I would like to vote for Chick Corea´s “Crystal Silence”.

I’ve been listening to “The Great American Songbook Collection” By Beegie Adair.

Hoagy Carmichaels, IVY has been jumping out at me whenever it plays.

Ben,
Thanks for sharing this. I’d never heard this tune before, and it’s beautiful. If you’ve got Corea and Burton together, you can’t go wrong. I’m going to add it to my library.
