Headphone suggestions?

I have just broken my v-moda crossfade earphones and I am looking for a new set of over-ear headphones. I am wondering what others are using.

I have read some good reviews for Audio-Technica ATH-M40X and M50X.

I’ve had a set of Sennheiser HD599 SE phones for a couple years. They’re comfortable, they sound great, and if they broke I would get the same pair as a replacement.

But I think there are lots of good choices—the big decision is whether to go with open or closed back. Open back are supposed to be more comfortable, and allow you to hear background noise (doorbell, phone, etc). I can certainly hear background noise with mine; sometimes that’s an advantage, sometimes not.

Thanks for your suggestion, @gregb . I think i might prefer closed-back headphones to reduce sound leakage.

@james18
AudioTechnica are great and are comfortable for lengthy practice sessions.

I love my Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO, very comfortable and very good sound. They are closed, have lots of space for ears, and very soft pads of velour textile.
