Hi JC,

That’s impressive! Thank you for sharing. How long did it take you to get to this point from starting jazz piano? I have some classical background but new to jazz, and I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Hi @jennie, thank you for your message and glad you liked my performance.

Like yourself, I was formally trained in classical piano when I was a young child. I started playing some other genres in the last 20 yrs, including some latin music as a keyboardist for a salsa band in the US East coast. And that experience led me to start learning jazz, which was just on and off at the beginning, but more focus over the past 5 months.

I recently joined pianogroove as I found Hayden’s teaching style the best after looking around online for a while. For me, I am listening a lot of jazz piano music, but the lessons from Hayden are giving me a solid foundation for defining my own style. Hope this is helpful.
