Bossa Nova take on "How High the Moon"

On May 12, 2021, Hayden did a brilliant “How High The Moon” Analysis in a Live Seminar. Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time with Bossa Nova piano, and I thought you might find interesting a Bossa Nova version of the tune.

Edmur Hebter is the pianist who leads 3 na Bossa, a group from São Paulo, Brazil. I can’t find much information about him. One critic said that if there was a Bossa Nova tune that the group couldn’t play, it hadn’t been written. The earliest recordings I’ve found are from a 2006 group of five albums recorded and produced by Roberto Menescal, himself a major early figure in the Bossa Nova movement, a guitarist and author of the standard “O barquinho” (My Little Boat).

Here’s the tune, followed by my Spotify playlist of the group playing a set that is mostly compositions of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Enjoy! :musical_keyboard:
