Bill Evans Trio featuring Stan Getz - The Peacocks

In my opinion this is one of Jimmy Rowles’ greatest compositions… the melodies and harmonies are sublime.

Another version: 5th track from “You Must Believe in Spring”. The album was recorded in 1977 but released in September 1980, after Bill’s death.

Piano: Bill Evans
Bass: Eddie Gómez
Drums: Eliot Zigmund

Thanks Mark… great tune and nice visualisation!

Here’s a great album with Bill Evans on piano and Stan Getz on Tenor Sax…

Really nice listening over a glass of red

I shared this link on PianoGroove’s Facebook a while back… I’ll share it again here because it’s a really useful resource:

This page contains over 1000 hours of recordings from the giants of the jazz world including Art Tatum, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, Chet Baker, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk and many more.

I strongly advise all students to listen to jazz everyday. Just stick one of these albums on the background and enjoy.

Listening everyday will make a real difference to your playing… I promise!

Wow the Japanese lady has some serious jazz chops!!

Thanks for sharing Marc.

Hiromi Uehara is an incredible Japanese pianist.
She’s able to do amazing things in jazz, classic, rock…
))) from Ahmad Jamal to Bach, from Oscar Peterson to Franz Liszt or any kind of hard rock…
Please, notice Anthony Jackson (bass) who has a great talent…
I appreciate the XXI century as you can listen to incredible talented musicians in classical music or in jazz music…
Infact, they are very often much better than most of musicians of the last
Century)))
Please, try to invite her for a variation on your harmony lessons, It would be totally unpredictable but surely
Impressive…
As she’s probably a little mad, maybe she could be ok)))

Superb interpretation by two masters of their craft.

Haha I’d love to have her do a guest lesson on PianoGroove.

This is very much where I want to take the website in the future - inviting other musicians to do a lesson or a series of lessons on their ‘specialisms’.

Agreed!

here some strange jazz improvisations, typical what I’m not fond of, but I think there’s a lot of good ideas or technical abilities.
